Education Programs & Initiatives

The education system in Zambia is divided in Pre-school (4 years), Primary school (7 years from Grade 1 to 7), Secondary School (Junior from Grade 8 to 9 and Senior from Grade 10 to 12) and Tertiary education. Besides public schools, the Ministry of General Education recognizes private schools, of either NGOs or religious entities, and community schools. Community schools were born from parents’ initiatives with the aim of reducing the distance between houses and public schools often located several Kilometres far, especially in rural areas. Community schools are the 20% of primary schools in Zambia (UNESCO, 2016).Africa Call Zambia
